Leiser Schapiro

     Leiser Schapiro was born circa 1873. He was the son of Israel Schapiro and Gittel Freude Schrage. He married Dische Ruhig, daughter of Jachiel Ruhig, circa 1897; married 13 years at 1910 Census. He died on 18 December 1956; buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Zalozitzer Society plot near Dora and Pauline [Zalishchyky, Galicia].
     He immigrated on 15 December 1903 to Ellis Island, New York, possible, as Leiser SCHAPIRO, 27; painter; aboard Umbria from Liverpool; last residence Libau; en route to brother-in-law S. LEWIN, B10 E. 1st Street. He appeared on the census of 22 April 1910 at 63 E. 7th Street, New York, New York, as Louis SHAPIRO, 37; tailor at tailor store; married 13 years; arrived 1903, first papers. He appeared on the census of 1 June 1915 at 63 E. 7th Street, New York, New York, as Louis SHAPIRO, 40; tailor; in US 12 years, citizen. He appeared on the census of 3 January 1920 at 63 E. 7th Street, New York, New York, as Louis SHAPIRO, 43; retired; arrived US 1903, naturalized 1912. He appeared on the census of 1 June 1925 at 63 E. 7th Street, New York, New York, as Louis SHAPIRO. He appeared on the census of 19 April 1930 at 1254 Grant Avenue, Bronx, New York, as Louis SHAPIRO, 55; widowed; clothing salesman.
