Rosa Schapiro

     Rosa Schapiro was born on 25 November 1888 at Tarnopol, Tarnopol, Galicia; as Reise, twin sister of Lea Dwojre. She was the daughter of Josef Szapiro and Rosa Hene Feigenbaum. She was born on 19 October 1890 at Tarnopol, Galicia. She married Joseph Schutzman on 5 September 1909 at New York, New York.
     She immigrated on 9 July 1907 to Ellis Island, New York, as Rosa SCHAPIRO, 20; dressmaker; aboard Batavia from Hamburg; last residence Tarnow; en route to cousin Lazar SCHAPIRO, 63 E. 7 Street; born Swayew; with brother Mechel. She appeared on the census of 9 January 1920 at 561 Fox Street, Bronx, New York, as Rose SCHUTZMAN, 29 (brother Morris living with household.) She appeared on the census of 19 April 1930 at 656 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, New York, as Rose SCHUTZMAN, 37. She appeared on the census of 12 April 1940 at 120 Bennett Avenue, New York, New York, as Rose SCHUTZMAN, 46; widowed, mother-in-law. She on 8 October 1942 at 150 Bennett Avenue, New York, New York, filed Petition for Naturalization with US Southern District of NY as Rosie SCHUTZMAN formerly Rosie SCHAPIRO; husband deceased, two children living with her; witnesses Julius SCHUTZMAN, Assistant Merchandising Manager, 1675 Grand Concourse, Bronx; and Mildred GRIEFF, housewife, 150 Bennet Avenue, NY. She was naturalized on 21 December 1942; swore Oath of Allegiance; certificate 5153908.
