Lena Grzybowicz

     Lena Grzybowicz was born on 17 March 1891 at Zareby Koscielne, Ostrow, Lomza; as Leja GRZYBOWICZ, registered in Zareby in 1900; aged 23 at marriage in 1916. She was the daughter of Abram Icek Grzybowicz and Chaja-Szyfra Piekarz. She married Hyman Lefton, son of Falko Lewton and Dina Trznagiel, on 21 October 1916 at New York, New York; as Hyman LIFTON, 22; father Falko, mother Annie ASTORSHINSKY [sic]; and Lena GERSCHBOWITZ, 23; father Abraham, mother Ida PEKANS; both from Lomza.
     Lena Grzybowicz was also known as Leja Grzybowicz. She immigrated on 22 July 1910 to Ellis Island, New York, as Line GERSCHOWITZ, 17; aboard Lapland from Antwerp; last residence Zaremb; closest kin father Awrum GERSCHOWITZ, Zaremb; en route to uncle M. GERSZBOWITZ, 56 Willett Street. She appeared on the census of 1 June 1915 at 171 Monroe, New York, New York, as Lena GERSHOWITZ, 22, operator; immigrated 1910; boarder in household of Hyman SIEGAL and Rose SIEGEL (Rose was witness in 1922 to Hyman LEFTON's naturalization; Hyman and Rose SIEGEL were from Lomza per his 1925 naturalization.) She appeared on the census of 13 January 1920 at 510 E. 136th Street, Bronx, New York. She appeared on the census of 1 June 1925 at 611 E. 182nd Street, Bronx, New York, as Lena LAFTON, 33; immigrated 1910.
