He immigrated on 10 December 1923 to Ellis Island, New York, as Awrum BAS, age 13; aboard Pittsburgh from Antwerp; occupation scholar; last residence Rowne; en route to brother Louis BASS, 2700 W. 8th Street, Cincinnati, Ohio; detained for special inquiry before being admitted. He appeared on the census of 17 April 1930 at 1219 N. Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, as Abe BASS, age 30; salesman, clothing.
