Anna Garkavy

     Anna Garkavy was born on 19 September 1895. She was the daughter of Rabbi Yehudah Leib Garkavy and Roza Mindel Sapir. She married David Radack, son of Adolf Radack, on 18 June 1921 at New York, New York. She died on 22 January 1973 at Santa Monica, California, at age 77; as Anna RADACK.
     Anna Garkavy was also known as Anna Radack. She immigrated on 22 January 1910 to Ellis Island, New York, as Hene HARKAWY, 15; dress maker; aboard President Lincoln from Hamburg; closest kin brother Abram HARKAWY, Wolkowisk; en route to brother Abram [sic] HARKAWY, 1450 Madison Avenue; detained and released to brother Aaron HARKAWY, 1450 Madison Avenue. She appeared on the census of 1 June 1915 at 1564 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, New York, as Anna HARKAVY, dressmaker; living with sister Sarah and brother-in-law Israel DAVIS. She appeared on the census of 1 June 1925 at 1485 Wyse Avenue, Bronx, New York, as Anna RADICK, 28. She appeared on the census of 9 April 1930 at 1003 E. 174th Street, Bronx, New York, as Anna RADACK, 35. She appeared on the census of 2 April 1940 at 68 W. 238th Street, Bronx, New York, as Anna RADACK, 44. She on 17 June 1941 at 3451 Giles Place, Bronx, New York, filed Petition for Naturalization with SDNY as Anna RADACK, aka Anna GARKAVY or Hene HARKAVY; born 9 Sep 1895 in Wolkovysk; witnesses Aaron HARKAVY, insurance, 630 W. 170th Street, and Bella BAUMSTEIN, housewife, 3451 Giles Place.
