Leizer Garkavy married Sora-Taibe Yezersky, daughter of Yudel-Movsha Yezersky. He was born circa 1813 at Novogrudok, Novogrudok, Minsk. He was the son of Rabbi Eliahu Garkavy and Gitl Kamir Kaminer. He died before 1878.
He lived on 17 May 1839 at Porozovo, Volkovysk, Grodno, Leizer son of Elya Garkavy - 23 years old, Jew, petty bourgeois from shtetl Novogrudok; on May 17 got a permission to move to shtetl Porozovo of Volkovysk uezd.
Leizer Garkavy moved to Grodno guberniya from shtetl Volozhin of Vilno guberniya, where he has been studying. Leizer Garkavy was added to the shtetl Porozovo petty bourgeois community as a member of family ¹ 7 (according to the 1834 census). He appeared on the census of 1850 at Porozovo, Volkovysk, Grodno, as Leizer GARKAVY, 34; son of Elya. He appeared on the census of 1858 at Porozovo, Volkovysk, Grodno, as Leizer GARKAVY, son of Elya, 42.
