On 18 April 1917 while living at Screven, Georgia, Yossel Gilmowski filed Declaration of Intention as Joe GILMORE, merchant; born 28 Nov 1895 in Horodischt, Russia; immigrated to New York aboard Nordham [sic], 13 August 1904. He on 5 June 1917 while living at Screven, Georgia, registered for the Selective Service as Joe GILMORE; merchant; born 28 Nov 1895 in Horedisht, Russia. He began military service on 2 July 1918 at Charleston, South Carolina, as Joe GILMORE. He ended military service on 7 February 1919 at Naval Training Camp, Charleston, South Carolina. He lived in 1920 at 410 W. Broad, Savannah, Georgia, in Savannah City Directory; entry for The Bootery, Joseph GILMORE proprietor (not listed by name as a resident); n.b. in 1919 directory, S. EICHHOLZ is proprietor of The Bootery. He lived between 1921 and 1923 at 115 West Hull, Savannah, Georgia, in Savannah city directory as Joseph GILMORE, same address as mother Sarah L. GILMORE. He appeared on the census of 2 April 1930 at 1034 W. University Avenue, Gainesville, Florida, as Joe GILMORE, age 32; clerk, clothing store; living with sister Rosa RABINOWITZ and b-in-l David RABINOWITZ.
