Rebecca Harkavy

     Rebecca Harkavy was born on 16 March 1896 at Podhajce, Podhajce, Galicia; per SSDI. She was the daughter of Julius Harkavy and Anna Steinbauch. She married George S. Harkavy, son of Schmuel Harkavy and Mary Hurvitz, on 15 January 1922 at 207 E. Broadway, New York, New York; as Gorge S. HARKAVY, 26, merchant, 2117 Pacifick Street [sic]; son of Samuel HARKAVY and Mary HURVITZ, and Ray HARKAVY, 23, 171 E. Broadway; daughter of Julius [Harkavy] and Anna STEINBACK; officiated by Rabbi Solomon E. JOFFEE; witnesses Rabbi Ben Y. JOFFEE and Rabbi E. JOFFEE; NY marriage certificate 1972. She died in December 1984 at Portland, Maine, at age 88.
     She emigrated on 23 August 1906 from Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany, as Rifke HARKAWA; last residence Podhajce [Pidhaytsi]; aboard Blucher to New York. She immigrated on 2 September 1906 to Ellis Island, New York, as Rifke HARKAWA, age 8; aboard Blucher from Hamburg; from Podhajce [Pidhaytsi]; en route to fatherJuda HARKAWA, Springstrasse, Waterbury, Connecticut. She appeared on the census of 22 April 1910 at 153 E. Main Street, Waterbury, Connecticut, as Rebecca ARCOVA, age 13. She appeared on the census of 8 January 1920 at 171 E. Broadway, New York, New York, as Rebecca HARKAWAY, age 21; general office work, embroidery shop. She appeared on the census of 1 June 1925 at 2084 Pacific Street, Brooklyn, New York, as Rae HARKAVY. She appeared on the census of 16 April 1930 at 3420 Clarendon Road, Brooklyn, New York, as Rae HARKAVY.
